Technology: friend or foe?
Well, my laptop took a great, big crapper yesterday. After wasting 7 hours of my life trying every disk repair/recovery tool at my disposal, I've officially given up and am taking her to the doctor's. Ugh. So, my faithful audience, it'll be a while before I post again.

I feel your pain. Partly because now I have to share my toys. Still, I feel indirectly responsible since it may have been my software that caused the problem. That really does suck.

It's rough when we live and die by technology... I know that if mine was down for a day I would be lost. I don't even know my mom's phone number without the autodial in my BB directory! There are days when I long for old fashioned letters and phone calls... then I wake up and remember that technology is so much easier -- when it works!

Dear laptop: get well soon. Mommy needs to write more.

Thanks for your support, everyone! Of course, the local Mac doctor is only open M-F, and we got stuck in Florida for an extra day this week, so alas, I can't even take her in for surgery until Monday. I feel so lost and sad! Who knew what a crack-junkie I was for my little rectangular friend?

The sad news just arrived ... hard drive totally fried. Everything must be erased and reinstalled. All data lost. Thankfully I backed up all my pics and music six months ago, but my writing? goodbye! my resume? (a key tool for the unemployed) gone! Anybody have a vat of tequila I could jump into?

Very sorry to hear that. I lost a hard drive a year or so ago that I still have because it had so much irreplaceable stuff on it and I might actually have it disassembled and recovered some day. Tons of source code that I really wish I had....
As far as the tequila, sounds great actually. I just imagine you as a sort of garnish in Paul Bunyan's marguerita...
